MSEA-SEIU Retirees Day - June 4, 2025!

Dear MSEA-SEIU Retiree Member,

By now you should have received the mailed registration form for our 33rd Annual MSEA-SEIU Retirees Day on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Augusta Civic Center. Please complete and mail back the registration form by the May 21 registration deadline if you can join us. We hope you will join us; we have an informative and entirely new program lined up for you.

Registration opens at 8am on the second floor of the North Wing (Augusta-Capital-Pine Tree Room). An elevator is available. The Retirees Day program runs from 9am to 2:30pm.

In addition to reports from MSEA-SEIU President Mark Brunton and MSEA-SEIU Executive Director Alec Maybarduk, an update on our retirement security campaigns at the state and national levels, and a participatory exercise demonstration by Silver Sneakers, the 2025 MSEA-SEIU Retirees Day will feature three workshops for all participants in small classrooms. The workshops include:

• Estate Planning Essentials – Wills, Trusts, and all the Musts;
• Technology for Seniors;
• Stroke Prevention.

Also at Retirees Day, you can speak with representatives from many organizations or firms, including: the Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS); MassMutual; Anthem; Aetna; Delta Dental; the Maine Senior College Network; Consumers for Affordable Healthcare; the law firm Hopkinson & Abbondanza; and New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland.

We also will provide info about our 2025 MSEA-SEIU Lifetime Achievement Award. Nominate a retiree member here for this year’s award!

To defray some of the costs of the 2025 MSEA-SEIU Retirees Day luncheon, members of the MSEA-SEIU Retirees Steering Committee voted to charge $7.50 per member attending and $10 per guest attending. These are the same rates from 2019.

To attend the 2025 MSEA-SEIU Retirees Day, fill out the registration form we mailed you and return it with your check made payable to “MSEA-SEIU Local 1989” using the postage-paid envelope. Registration deadline is May 21.
